The Apulian pizzica is a traditional folk dance of Salento. It is a form of cultural expression that combines music, song and dance, and is often performed during local festivals and celebrations.

The Apulian pizzica has ancient roots and is closely associated with the popular culture and traditions of the region. Historically, this dance was used to cure “taranta bite” or “tarantism”, a kind of hysteria or healing dance, believed to be caused by the bite of a venomous spider called a tarantula.

Today the Apulian pizzica has become a form of artistic expression and entertainment. The teachers explain the basic movements, the attitude and the meaning of the various body positions.
Apulian pizzica lessons are both fun and engaging. It is a group dance that encourages social interaction and self-expression through movement and music.

Costs 

The cost is € 30 per person for a minimum of 2 participants, and includes the lesson by the dancer.

Starting time

The departure time can be agreed with the organizer. The experience is available all year round.

Meeting point in Martina Franca, depending on the day we will choose different places.

The organizers speak Italian, interpreter on request.

How to book

Cancellation

By completing the payment, you agree to the Terms of Use. In case of cancellation, only the deposit is lost. Cancellation is possible up to 24 hours before midnight on the date of the activity by writing to PlacenPeople and the Organizer (e.g. activities on July 5th, cancellation possible until July 3rd).
