Trekking excursion in the Laterza ravine

Description

In this trekking excursion you will explore one of the most spectacular erosion phenomena of the Apulian territory: the Laterza ravine. Similar to the famous American canyons, the ravine extends for 12 kilometers in the rural territory, with several bends, and is deep, in some points, more than two hundred meters, and more than four hundred wide; in the tour of the ravine you will be able to observe a variety of particularly interesting flora and fauna: a centuries-old olive grove, and other species of birds of prey including the imperial crow or the peregrine falcon. The tour can have a variable duration:

The 2-hour excursion: allows you to reach the first level of the ravine, without reaching the bottom, and is available all year round.

The 3-hour excursion: the additional hour allows you to reach the bottom of the ravine, in some places you will use a transport (safari jeep) and is only available in the summer, when the water does not flow on the bottom of the ravine .

Both excursions are suitable for everyone as long as they are accompanied by expert PlacenPeople guides; sportswear and a small personal supply of water are recommended. Get ready for adventure!

This activity is managed by multiple organizers, according to their availability, we will provide you with all the additional information when you contact us for the reservation.

Costs 

The cost is:

– € 25 per person, for the 2-hour tour

– € 35 per person, for the 3-hour route that reaches the bottom of the ravine.

– € 50 per person, for the one day route (about 5-6 hours).

a minimum of 2 participants is required, and the cost includes the guide service of the organizer inside the park. Small trips necessary for the activity are provided free of charge. Meals or other things are not included.

Starting time

The starting time is flexible, however to avoid being in the ravine at dusk, the organizer recommends leaving in the morning in winter, and in the intermediate seasons no later than early afternoon (15 / 15.30). In summer there are no particular time restrictions.

How to get there

The meeting is directly in Laterza, near the ravine, in a place that will be indicated with precision each time by the organizer. Some organizers are available to give a free car ride depending on the place of departure, or just a refund of the fuel. This information will be requested during the booking phase. The organizer will give all the necessary information by phone as soon as the reservation is made.

Language

The organizers speak Italian or English. Other languages ​​are available upon request for a small surcharge.

Cancellation

By completing the payment, you agree to the Terms of Use. In case of cancellation, only the deposit is lost. Cancellation is possible up to 24 hours before midnight on the date of the activity by writing to PlacenPeople and the Organizer (e.g. activities on July 5th, cancellation possible until July 3rd). This activity depends on the weather conditions: in case the organizer judges the ctivity not feasible, he can propose to postpone it or, if impossible, can cancel it (with full refund).
