Naturalistic visit to sea turtles in the botanical garden and wildlife park near Lecce

Get ready to live an experience of strong contact with nature. In this center the PlacenPeople organizers manage a real first aid for animals. There are always sea turtles present, which you can approach and observe “face to face” … but there are also many species of birds, small mammals, snakes, as well as an infinite collection of plants of many species.

Taking part in this tour means having access to an experience far beyond that expected for normal sightseeing: you will be together with an expert PlacenPeople organizer of the center, with whom you will walk among the animals kept there: you will be able to look after a sea turtle and feed her a piece of fish, take care of a hawk or other birds that are there for hospitalization and rehabilitation, often you will also find hedgehogs and other small animals, you can touch plants and even … snakes! Sea turtles vary in size, and are typically found there as a result of accidents with boats or fishing nets.

For obvious reasons you will not be allowed to get too close to the larger ones, but you will be able to look after the smaller and more docile ones instead. In some periods (usually in September) it is possible to make arrangements with the organizers to go together to see the hatching of the eggs on the beach.

Furthermore, with this experience you will have access to 4 different paths: a naturalistic museum, an ornithological path (many birds present, including birds of prey), a walk in a real reconstruction of the rainforest, and finally the first aid of animals. The experience is suitable for all ages and comfortable clothing is recommended.

Costs 

The cost is € 25 per person and includes the entrance ticket to the center, the exploration of all the routes, and the visit to the animals with an expert dedicated to you.

Starting time

The entrances are scheduled from 10 to 13 and from 15 to 18. The starting time will be agreed with the organizer, who will accompany you for about 1 hour, after which you will be shown a path of about half an hour to drive alone. However, if you want to spend even more time in the center, you will be free to wander around until closing time. The experience is available all year round.

How to get there

The locality where the botanical garden stands is a short distance south of Lecce. After booking, the organizer will contact the guest to indicate exactly the meeting place.

Cancellation

By completing the payment, you agree to the Terms of Use. In case of cancellation, only the deposit is lost. Cancellation is possible up to 24 hours before midnight on the date of the activity by writing to PlacenPeople and the Organizer (e.g. activities on July 5th, cancellation possible until July 3rd).
