Underground Matera

Description

Marvel at one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world. The Sassi of Matera can be considered a real complex of rooms communicating through galleries. Thanks to the presence of calcareous tuff, i.e. of marine origin, particularly friable and therefore suitable for human processing, the populations that gradually followed one another have been able to adapt the territory to their needs and according to their needs, digging into the rock to obtain environments, which later became cisterns, stables, houses, churches, cellars and so on.

Visit one of the largest hypogeums in Matera, a 1200 m2 underground that extends up to 12 meters below street level, composed of caves that have been used over the centuries by the inhabitants for different purposes.

The cost is € 20 adults. Min. 3 people and max. 15 people. Discounts available for large groups.

The starting time can be arranged with the organizer. The experience is available all year long.

Cancellation

By completing the payment, you agree to the Terms of Use. In case of cancellation, only the deposit is lost. Cancellation is possible up to 24 hours before midnight on the date of the activity by writing to PlacenPeople and the Organizer (e.g. activities on July 5th, cancellation possible until July 3rd).
