Get ready to discover the places of a true story of medieval conspiracy, the “conspiracy of the barons”, set in the castle of a magnificent ancient village: Miglionico, near Matera, a beautiful village perched on the top of a hill. But let’s go in order: the experience will begin with an immersion in the art visible in the charming village, in particular with a visit to the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore, and will continue for a piece of ancient walls, with a belvedere and a breathtaking view of Lake San Giuliano.

After the guided tour, we will finally reach the majestic Malconsiglio Manor, theater of the famous conspiracy hatched by the Barons of Southern Italy behind the Aragonese. Just to anticipate what awaits you, during that dinner long time ago, that room became the scene of a sudden and great massacre … but by whom? Reproduced with a multimedia exhibition with which to relive, in the guise of a baron, in the first person, the dinner with crime in which Ferdinand I of Aragon participated. It will be an exciting and profound experience.

In addition, on request, it is also possible to visit the Abbey of Montescaglioso, and returning to Matera also the Crypt of the Original Sin. The experience in this extra-long format lasts 7 hours instead of about 3, and includes free lunch in the middle of the day.

*Costs 

The cost is € 40 per person for a minimum of 2 participants for the visit of Miglionico, and includes the purchase of the entrance ticket to the castle for the multimedia experience of the conspiracy of the Barons. In the case yu wish to add the visit to the Abbey and the crypt (all day experience), the price is € 70 per person and the entrance tickets are included. The lunch is free and not included. 

Starting time

The departure time can be agreed with the organizer. In the case of a 7-hour experience, we recommend starting around 9.30 in the morning. The experience is available all year round.

How to get there

Miglionico can be reached by car from Matera. If necessary, with a small refund of the cost, the organizer can drive to Matera to pick up the guests. In Miglionico the appointment is in Piazza Castello, and after booking the guide will make direct telephone contact, for all your needs.

Language

The organizers speak Italian. A translator can be available in english for a small additional cost.

Cancellation

By completing the payment, you agree to the Terms of Use. In case of cancellation, only the deposit is lost. Cancellation is possible up to 24 hours before midnight on the date of the activity by writing to PlacenPeople and the Organizer (e.g. activities on July 5th, cancellation possible until July 3rd).
