Welcome to Alberobello! This picturesque Apulian town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996, is the Capital of the Trulli. The trullo, a typical rural building used as a shelter or peasant dwelling, is a distinctive element of Valle d’Itria territory. In a bygone era, the dry construction, without mortar, of this particular type of building was useful for inhabitants, so that their homes could be dismantled quickly during inspections, to avoid taxes on new settlements.
The local guides of PlacenPeople community will offer you an accurate tour to explore Alberobello and get to know its very particular buildings, discovering some particular trulli of great interest and peculiar charm, perennial witnesses of an ancient and non-replicable tradition, which make the village famous throughout the world, and its visit a pleasant walk between art and traditions in a poetic atmosphere.
About the tour
The visit of Alberobello by foot to discover the hamlet’s gems is recommended for those who love calm and prefer to appreciate all the details invisible to a quick eye. All PlacenPeople organizers who will accompany you on cultural tours are licensed professional tour guides.
You will meet with the guide at the agreed point and time, and the tour will start. If you (or your group) are the only participants, you can propose the guide a particular point and time.
Since the visit of Alberobello takes about half a day, if you want to enrich your trip with the discovery of another unique local pearl, we recommend you to explore one of our tours to 2 locations, combining the poetry of Alberobello with the magic of Polignano a Mare, a famous village perched on a cliff overlooking the sea, or the gorgeous little city of Monopoli. On these tours, many organizers make their car available for a free ride.
Costs (and inclusions)
The participation fee for a cultural (walking) tour is € 30 per person and includes the activity of the tour guide, while it doesn’t include any meals or anything else.
Some community organizers may indicate slightly different prices depending on the services offered.
Duration and Period
The visit of Alberobello hardly takes more than half a day (that’s why we recommend visiting two places in one day). The guided tours of Alberobello have a duration of about 2 hours, and almost all the organizers leave freedom of choice on the departure time. Available all year round.
Tours generally start with groups of 2 to 25 participants, but many organizers are flexible and also start with one person, or with groups larger than 25. On tours where you visit only one city, you meet directly on site: the organizer will indicate the meeting point immediately after booking, often agreeing this point with the guest.
Alternatively, if you choose a two-stage day tour (check tours of 2 locations) our organizers are available to offer a ride by car (in the case of a few people, free of charge) or to organize transport by bus or minibus (in case of groups).
