Dry stone wall workshop in Murgia

Description

The dry stone walls are a very particular feature of the Apulian landscape, and since 2018 they have been recognized as Unesco heritage. Thanks to the numerous advantages they bring, such as the delimitation of the fields, and the collection of condensation from humidity, over the centuries they have been invaluable allies for farmers. You have the opportunity to learn how to build a dry stone wall from a real local farmer, an expert in the relationship with nature; in a practical lesson, you will find yourself choosing the stones and assembling them according to geometries; you will create an authentic piece of wall, and you will learn this art of construction that tourists from all over the world come to observe and reproduce in their places.

Costs 

The cost is € 25 per person with a minimum of 2 participants, and includes the practical workshop. Anything not specifically mentioned is included.

Starting time

The starting time is agreed with the organizer. The workshops are possible all year round, although the period from March to November is suggested.

How to get there

The construction site of the wall is located near Gravina, in the hearth of Murgia, and can only be reached by car. Some organizers may provide free lift by car for short distances. After booking it will be possible to speak by phone for more details.

The organizers speak a very basic English (but this is not a problem for enjoying the workshop).

Cancellation

By completing the payment, you agree to the Terms of Use. In case of cancellation, only the deposit is lost. Cancellation is possible up to 24 hours before midnight on the date of the activity by writing to PlacenPeople and the Organizer (e.g. activities on July 5th, cancellation possible until July 3rd).
