Trekking in the protected area between Otranto and SM di Leuca to the bauxite quarries

Description

In this trekking route we will walk along breathtaking paths, we will learn to recognize rare and protected plants but also the most common herbs that are used for the preparation of typical Salento dishes.

We will scrutinize the sea from the Torre del Serpe, symbol of the city of Otranto and we will observe from a distance the lighthouse of Punta Palascìa, which stands on the easternmost point of Italy.

We will close our experience among the breathtaking colors of the former Cava di Bauxite, whose red earth walls contrast with the emerald waters of the lake formed thanks to the aquifer.

Costs 

The cost is € 25 per person for a minimum of 2 participants; snacks and anything else not mentioned are not included in the price.

Starting time

The departure time is communicated by the organizer, and can sometimes be agreed. In any case it is important to show up 10 minutes before the departure time. Departures are between April and September. 

How to get there

The departure is in Otranto area.  The walk can start on foot from the city, as the distance is quite short. After booking it will be possible to speak by phone for more details. 

Requirements

None, comfortable clothing and hiking shoes are recommended.

The organizers speak Italian and English.

Cancellation

By completing the payment, you agree to the Terms of Use. In case of cancellation, only the deposit is lost. Cancellation is possible up to 24 hours before midnight on the date of the activity by writing to PlacenPeople and the Organizer (e.g. activities on July 5th, cancellation possible until July 3rd). This activity depends on the weather conditions: in case the organizer judges the ctivity not feasible, he can propose to postpone it or, if impossible, can cancel it (with full refund).
